PETALING JAYA: Asli chief operating officer and Centre for Public Policy Studies (CPPS) senior director Ng Yeen Seen (pic) has been named this year’s World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.
Ng is the only Malaysian and is one of 15 from the Asia Pacific region to be awarded.
“As chairman of the centre, I regard this award as a tribute to her special talents and leadership qualities, particularly as a charming champion of youth and gender issues.
“I hope that her international recognition will inspire many more young Malaysians to lead us to a better Malaysia,” said CPPS chairman Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam in a statement yesterday.
The World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders Award “comprises 122 bold, brave, action-oriented and entrepreneurial next-generation leaders” under the age of 40.
The Young Global Leaders forum is an integral part of the World Economic Forum and is designed to bring together people who have the power to make change.
Asli chief executive officer Tan Sri Michael Yeoh said Asli was proud of Ng’s recognition as a 2016 Global Young Leader alongside former awardees such as King Abdullah of Jordan, Jack Ma of Alibaba, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg and Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin.
“This honour is a testimony to her leadership contribution and recognises her potential as an emerging global young leader,” said Yeoh.
