THE new decision to hire foreign workers for four sectors is sensible and pragmatic. But at the same time, it shows a flip-flop in policies.
All the uncertainty, inconvenience and pain suffered by both employers and employees and even the foreign workers could have been avoided if only there was more thoughtful planning.
Why does the Government adopt ad hoc policies and then chop and change, thus giving the impression to the world that it is not clear on what it wants to do and where it wants to go? It must adopt a SOP to consult and consider the views of all stakeholders before formulating and implementing major policies in future.
Please rectify the situation, otherwise flipping and flopping will continue and public and investor confidence will decline even more. I am sure we have the capacity to do better in future!
